Creative Preschool is located uptown in the basement of the
Presbyterian Church. The Preschool is
not affiliated with the church or any other religious organization.
CLASS TIMES
Creative Preschool follows the Vashon Island School District calendar
• Two & three year olds:
9:00am-11:30am Tuesday through Friday
Families may choose to enroll their child between one and four days a week. Specific days of the week may be requested but actual days depend on available space.
• Pre-Kindergarten:
12:30pm-3:45pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
One and two day options for enrollment are available at the Head Teacher's discretion. Please contact the school to discuss your options.

CURRICULUM
We use a theme
based approach to teaching which means our activities and experiences are
planned around weekly topics we have found to be of interest to young
children. We choose topics that reflect
the world around children such as nature, seasons, holidays, families,
etc. Themes are also selected by
observing the interests of the children.
Activities are planned to enhance concepts and ideas inherent in the
weekly themes.
The school is
divided into different areas: art room, dramatic play, manipulative blocks, sensory table, science/nature table, books
and a “writing” center. Materials and
activities are rotated weekly to keep up with the interest of the children. During free play time the children may choose
the area or activity in which they wish to participate. The teachers circulate around the room
facilitating learning and helping children.
The routine for
each class includes circle time, free choice time, clean up, snack, story time
and outdoor time.
