We use a theme based approach to teaching which means our activities and experiences are planned around weekly topics we have found to be of interest to young children.  We choose topics that reflect the world around children such as nature, seasons, holidays, families, etc.  Themes are also selected by observing the interests of the children.  Activities are planned to enhance concepts and ideas inherent in the weekly themes.

The school is divided into different areas: art room, dramatic play, manipulative blocks, sensory table, science/nature table, books and a “writing” center.  Materials and activities are rotated weekly to keep up with the interest of the children.  During free play time the children may choose the area or activity in which they wish to participate.  The teachers circulate around the room facilitating learning and helping children.

The routine for each class includes circle time, free choice time, clean up, snack, story time and outdoor time.
